I was in the mood to make a quick Christmas project! And these ugly sweater coasters were such a festive and fun project! (And they’d make fantastic gifts, too!)

No official tutorial, but here are some details:

🎄 Add iron-on adhesive (like my fave from @thermoweb) to the back of Christmas fabric scraps! I chose this charm pack from @missouriquiltco.

✏️ Trace a sweater shape (or other fun shape of your choice) onto the fused fabric. This is the SN-Ugly Template from @missouriquiltco, but you could use cookie cutters or shapes from computer clip art.

✂️ Cut the shapes out, peel off the paper backing, and arrange them on a 5” square. Fuse them in place — I use medium heat and no steam on my @olisohome iron!

🧵 Layer the appliquéd fabric on a 4.5” square of batting. Sew the shapes down using your fave applique stitch or just quilt lines across the fabric to hold the pieces in place.

❄️ Layer the quilted square with a second 5” square of fabric and sew around the outside using a 1/4” seam and leaving a 3” opening along one edge for turning. Turn the coaster right side out through the hole and topstitch around the outside to close the hole.

☕️ Enjoy with hot chocolate, coffee, or tea! Or wrap up a set for the perfect hostess gift!
