‼️ Help! It’s been a little quiet over here because my sewing machine stopped working — I think it’s a computer issue.

And I went to get my backup machine — and remembered that I stopped using that one because it also was having issues. 😂

So, I’m taking this as a sign that the universe wants me to upgrade my machine. But it’s been years since I’ve had to buy one and need suggestions!

Here’s what I’m looking for:
—A step-up from a basic machine. I went from hobby sewing to running a quilting business, so I’d like to invest in something that will last and can stand up to lots of use.
—A larger throat space than I have now. My machine now has 6”, but I quilt most of my own quilts, so I’d love something with a little more room.
—BUT I sew for how-to videos quite a bit, so I don’t want something too massive. I’d like the machine to feel approachable, easy to use, and fit within my camera’s frame.
—An automatic thread cutter. I know that doesn’t always come standard with machines. But I’ve had one for years now and can’t go back.
—I only use basic stitches on my machine, so I don’t necessarily need too much flashy add-ons or embroidery options.

I need to get a machine up and running again soon, so give me all your suggestions for a machine to buy!

Mine are pretty simple: snips, hand sewing needles, and Wonder Clips.

But my secret weapon is hand quilting thread — once I realized how much easier it makes the binding process, I’ve never used anything different!

One of my favorite parts of my Book Club quilt is how I matched the binding fabric to the rainbow colors in the quilt — it was extra work to piece that many fabrics and get things aligned, but SO worth it! 🌈

A rare non-quilty post from me!

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend along the Mississippi in Wisconsin for our 10th anniversary celebration!

We had the best time doing nothing but watching the boats and eagles on the river and soaking in the hot tub.

It was hard to leave, but I’m happy to be back with the cats and my sewing room!
